Today I want to talk about the 4 Freedoms.
I learned form my mentor, Dan Sullivan, that there are 4 Freedoms that you may not be aware of.
Those are:
1st Freedom of money, that’s financial freedom
2nd Freedom of time
3rd Freedom of purpose
4th Freedom of relationship
I want to talk about how to capitalize on those. But first, let me ask you a question.
The question is, how do you as a 401k or 403b participant become a 401k superhero to your future self?
That is the question, and these videos will give you the answers. Hey, I’m Jonathon Schultheiss and welcome to the Becoming a 401k superhero videos.
Let me talk about the first freedom, that’s financial freedom. Because I feel like it is the most important and it’s what my book is about.
Financial Freedom is spending less than you make, so you can afford to pursue your dreams of a bigger and better future.
When you spend less than you make, that left over money is the fuel that drives your dreams and allows you to pursue other things.
When you are over your head in debt, you can’t do anything except work as hard as you can just to pay your bills. That is NOT freedom.
You see, once you have your finances in order, you can then work on the second freedom.
That’s the freedom of time. If you don’t have your finances in order, you may need to trade your freedom of time for additional money so that you can pay off that debt and get your finances in order.
When you have freedom of time, you can now spend that time doing the things you love to do.
Maybe you don’t work as many hours. Maybe you purse hobbies and passions.
The best example of Freedom of Time is retirement.
When you get your finances in order and have Freedom of Money, then you get to experience the ultimate freedom of time, and that is your retirement.
In retirement you get to experience the 3rd Freedom, that is the freedom of purpose.
Now if you decide to work, you’re not working because you have to. You’re working because your love what you do and you have purpose.
Now you get to experience the 4th freedom, the freedom of purpose.
You can now choose to do the things that make you feel fulfilled. Those things may not pay you in money. But if you have freedom of money, that wont matter.
And now you can experience the freedom of relationship. You can be very selective in who you spend your time with.
When you understand the 4 freedoms, and you work hard towards gaining those freedoms, you are truly becoming a 401k superhero to your future self.
